    Logitech Wireless Mouse M335

The Logitech Wireless Mouse M335 is a compact wireless mouse that works through a tiny USB Unifying receiver. It is not a Bluetooth mouse, so the receiver matters as much as the software. When the receiver pairs correctly, the pointer, wheel, navigation button, and tilt wheel shortcuts work without a long setup.

Windows, macOS, and ChromeOS can run the basic pointer and click functions with their built-in mouse support. The Logitech software adds more control for button assignments, gestures, tracking speed, and battery notifications on supported systems. That software is useful when the navigation button opens the wrong action or when the wheel click needs a different function.

This model uses one AA battery and has a battery LED that can warn when power runs low. It also uses Logitech Unifying wireless, so a replacement Unifying receiver can work after pairing. Avoid Bluetooth instructions for this device because they do not apply to the M335.

Setting Up the M335 with the USB Receiver and Logitech Utility

Start with the receiver and battery before installing extra software. Slide the battery cover open, place a fresh AA battery in the right direction, and turn the mouse on. Plug the Unifying receiver directly into the computer, not into a crowded hub, then move the pointer to check the basic connection.

Use the receiver before changing software

The included receiver normally arrives paired with the mouse. If the pointer does not move, try another USB port and keep the receiver close to the mouse during the first test. A rear desktop port can work, but a front port or short USB extension often gives a cleaner signal.

When you use a replacement Unifying receiver, pair the mouse with the Logitech pairing utility. During pairing, switch the mouse off and on when the utility asks for it. If the old receiver still sits in another USB port, remove it first so the software does not read the wrong device.

Install software only for extra controls

For normal left click, right click, pointer movement, and basic scrolling, Windows can handle the M335 without a large package. Install the Logitech utility when you want to change the navigation button, set gestures, adjust pointer speed, or check battery status inside the app.

On macOS, button and gesture control may need the Logitech app plus the required privacy permission. If the utility opens but the button does nothing, check the access permission, restart the app, and test the navigation button again in a simple window.

    Clean up older Logitech packages

Old Logitech software can confuse the device list, especially after moving from an older Options package to a newer utility. Remove duplicate Logitech utilities, restart the computer, then install the package you actually plan to use. After that, open the app and check whether the M335 appears only once.

ChromeOS can use the M335 through the Unifying receiver for normal pointer use and basic shortcuts. It does not need Bluetooth pairing. If you already paired the receiver on another computer, plug that receiver into the Chromebook and test the pointer, wheel, and browser back or forward action.

When the M335 Stops Moving, Scrolling, Clicking, or Pairing

Most M335 faults start from the receiver, battery, USB port, software mapping, or wheel/button behavior. Work through the symptom that matches your device instead of reinstalling everything straight away.

Pointer does not move after plugging in the receiver

Check the power switch and battery direction first. The AA cell can sit in the tray but still face the wrong way. If the LED does not show life, try another new AA battery and gently wipe the battery contacts with a dry cloth.

Next, plug the receiver into a different USB port. A USB hub can stop the receiver from waking correctly, so test a direct port on the computer. When the pointer works there, keep the receiver direct or use a short extension lead.

Replacement Unifying receiver will not pair

The M335 can pair with another Unifying receiver, but it will not connect to just any spare Logitech receiver. Use a receiver with the Unifying mark, open the pairing utility, and follow the prompt to switch the mouse off and on.

If the utility fails to detect the mouse, remove other Unifying receivers from the computer during pairing. Also check that the battery has enough power. A weak battery may let the LED flash, yet still fail during the pairing step.

Pointer lags or jumps near the edge of the desk

Wireless lag often comes from distance, interference, or a poor USB position. Move the receiver closer to the mouse and keep it away from metal surfaces, thick desktop panels, and busy USB 3.0 devices. A small extension cable can make a big difference.

Replace the AA battery before changing software settings. Low voltage can cause stutter before the mouse fully stops. Test the mouse on a plain mouse pad or sheet of paper if the pointer skips only on glossy, glass, or uneven surfaces.

Mouse works for a moment and then sleeps or drops

When the pointer wakes slowly after idle time, remove the receiver and plug it back in. Then restart the computer and test again. On Windows, also check USB power saving for the port if the receiver drops after sleep.

Do not place the receiver behind a desktop tower if the signal already feels weak. The M335 uses a small 2.4 GHz receiver, and a blocked rear port can make a good mouse behave like a failing one.

Navigation button opens the wrong action

The navigation button can switch applications or handle gesture actions, depending on the system and software. Open the Logitech utility and check the assigned action for that button. Set it again, apply the change, then test it in a browser and a normal desktop window.

If the button stopped after a software update, close the utility fully and reopen it. When that fails, remove the device from the utility if the option appears, restart the computer, and let the app detect the M335 again.

Gestures do not respond on macOS

Gesture control needs software access. Open the system privacy settings and make sure the Logitech app and its helper process have the required accessibility permission. Turn the permission off and on again only if the app still ignores the navigation button.

Restart macOS after changing that permission. Then hold the navigation button and move the mouse left, right, up, or down to test the gesture. If another shortcut tool controls the same action, change one of the assignments.

Scroll wheel moves but middle click fails

The wheel can scroll while the middle click still fails because the scroll action and wheel press use different parts. Test middle click in a browser tab first. Press the wheel on a link and see whether the browser opens it in a new tab.

If the click works in one app but not another, check the button assignment in the Logitech utility. If it fails everywhere, dust under the wheel area may block the press. Clean around the wheel gently with compressed air and avoid liquid cleaner.

Tilt wheel or browser back action does not work

The M335 has a tilt wheel, and its left or right movement can handle browser navigation on supported systems. Test it inside a browser window, not only on the desktop. Some apps ignore tilt actions even when the hardware works.

When tilt actions do nothing after installing software, open the button settings and check the left tilt and right tilt assignments. Set them back to browser back and forward, or choose another action if that fits your workflow better.

    Battery warning appears too soon

A red battery warning after a fresh AA battery usually points to weak contact, poor battery quality, or dirt in the battery bay. Remove the battery, check the spring and flat contact, and wipe both ends of the battery with a dry cloth.

Use a standard alkaline AA battery for testing. Rechargeable cells can work in many devices, but their lower voltage may trigger warnings earlier. If the warning remains with two different new batteries, test the mouse on another computer before assuming a software fault.

Logitech app does not show the M335

Close the app, unplug the receiver, and restart the computer. Plug the receiver back into a direct USB port, then open the Logitech utility again. If Windows keeps old hidden Logitech entries, removing duplicate device entries and reinstalling the utility can refresh detection.

Do not install gaming software for this model. The M335 belongs with the standard Logitech mouse utility and Unifying receiver tools. Once the app sees the device, check the pointer speed, wheel actions, and navigation button before changing more settings.
